Introduction to Rotorua

If you see a sign that reads Te Rotorua-nui-a-Kahumatamomoe it means you are in Rotorua! Welcome to a cultural and geothermal awakening of your senses. Nestled on the shores of Lake Rotorua and extending its district boundaries to the beautiful Bay of Plenty. Captain Cook gave the bay its name in 1769.

If you are looking for a destination that has some sun, some sand, geothermal hot pools and hot springs you are in the right place. As you drive into this beautiful region you will be welcomed by some genuine kiwi hospitality. The Maori culture will invite you to experience cultural performances and eating a traditional hangi (google ‘hangi’ you are in for a surprise) out of the steaming ground.

A total number of 16 lakes in this beautiful district and hot thermals at every corner. Locals call it ‘Roto Vegas’, this is not official, but we are speculating into this claim.
